My wife and I never really intended to sell our previous and buy a new home. We ended up selling our house before it even listed on MLS and we hadn’t even started looking. We had visited Crestone previously and really felt that that was an area where we could retire. From the start Rick was inquisitive about our desires, wants, needs and preferences. He put together a short list and we travelled down to South by Southwest Colorado to meet and view our choices. We narrowed the list to two new constructions and that night, upon our return home, called Rick to put in an offer. Rick counseled us concerning some issues with one of the house we were not aware of and we ended up putting an offer in on the other. This was the easy part, negotiations and closing were another story. There were several counter proposals and counter to the counter proposals. We ended up with a great final closing price considering a tight market. Finally, closing was a nightmare due to my lender constantly reacting rather than being proactive. The lenders lack of communication and lack of knowledge about VA loans (despite being one of the well known banks/credit unions specializing in military personnel. If it wasn’t for the probing, pushing, late nights and persistence by Rick and the title company there is no doubt we wouldn’t had made our closing date. The stress and anxiety was acknowledged by Rick and his wise and professional counsel saved our sanity. Now, he’s one of our neighbors and I see him constantly, you know what? He’s still the same polite, nice and “REAL” human being.
